I am excited to announce the book's new title about Dr. Jerry Galloway, which will be available soon! "Courage in the Congo: A Doctor's Fight to Save the Pygmies"
An excerpt:
After three days in Kiri, I left for home. When I arrived, I found a note slid under my door that read, "How can a father abandon his children? Don't you like us anymore? Why are you always absent?" I talked to the students and explained, "If I did not agree to manage the pharmacy in Kiri, then 100,000 people would be without health care. Is it right for me to refuse to help those people? What do you want me to do?" They agreed I should help the people in Kiri, and they would accept my absences.
I spent Saturday afternoon with my "abandoned" children. We had a "masolo ya bankoko," an event where someone who returns from a trip tells about their journey. They informed me about what happened to them while I had been absent. I gave the boys new shirts and the girls new dresses. The gifts made them very happy and were a sign I had not abandoned or neglected them. The boys and girls were the joy of my life. I thought about what the Lord had told His disciples. "No one has left his home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or fields because of Me who will not receive a hundred times as much here in this world." (Mark 10:29-30 ISV)
